Do you or your teen love attending VMY events or want to attend some, but need a way to raise funds?
- We are opening our annual washer tournament to those who would like to run it on the Saturday of the Ste. Gen. County Fair in July! The people who run it will be able to split half of the proceeds to go into their accounts with VMY!
- Let us know if you are interested! The first people to respond will have the ability to run it!
- We have the past forms and a place to borrow the washers and boards, we just need people to run the event that day!
- Spread the word to someone you know who may want to help out!
Fall 2017 Projects
The first annual Fall Ball was held on November 18 at the Dubourg Centre in Ste. Genevieve, MO. The 1980's themed night was a night for girls who just wanted to have fun! There was a dinner, silent auction, opportunity to learn about the organization, and a way to dance the night away! The fundraiser is going to help the organization with the new building that will be the home of the store and the entire organization. Thank you so much to everyone and all of the businesses who donated their time or items for our fundraiser and everyone who attended! Mark your calendars for the 2nd annual Fall Ball on Saturday, November 17, 2018!
This year we were blessed to Consecrate 3 teens to Mary in the Vincentian Charism and reconsecrate 1 teen. After going through the program, each of the teens were prepared and learned more about their faith and Mary while reading stories about Mary's life and learning how they can connect with her in a deeper way. Consecration was on November 5 at St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the celebrant was Fr. Rich Wehrmeyer.
Daniel Kuenzel and Nolan Klump led the 6th Mission Box Experience this year held at Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church! It was a cold night filled with Mass, activities, a fire pit, and a guest speaker who was formerly homeless. The teens and adults had the opportunity to listen to and ask questions with the guest speaker for almost 2 hours. His unique experience with homelessness gave everyone a different perspective of homeless and the struggles and peace that can come with it. Join us next year when we have the experience in Perryville!
Projects from the Summer
The 2017 Operation Overhaul week-long mission trip was attended by 58; they served five private residences with a new roof, siding, a fence and a lot of yard work. The group installed a new roof for the rectory and new paint for the parking lot at St. Augustine and St. Bartholomew was provided with a wheelchair ramp and painting as well. A crew worked at Jericho Way, a homeless day center within the community of North Little Rock, AR.
The annual Love Banquet, a sit down dinner for those served throughout the week held during Operation Overhaul, was attended by approximately 100 people. The attendants experienced a white linen dinner and dessert, singing and prayers and received crosses to take home. The people love this event.
